The William Way Community Center has served the LGBTQ+ community of Philadelphia since 1975, and they have operated out of their current building at 1315 Spruce Street since 1990. After a multi-year fundraising campaign, they will embark on a gut-renovation of the building to turn their “…current outdated, inefficient, and worn-down building…Into a modern complex full of space, color, and light.” The renovation will be near total. Taking this transition as a creative prompt, Rudy Gerson and lexi welch will collaborate on an experimental essay film that documents, evokes, and comments on the complex intersections of archival location, alternative memory projects, and queer inheritance.
