Assistant Professor Ebony Elizabeth Thomas’s Exploration of Representations of Slavery in Children’s Literature Featured in Penn TodayEbony Elizabeth Thomas, an assistant professor in the Graduate School of Education, and an expert on children’s literature and the teaching of African-American literature, history, and culture in K-12 classrooms, has for the past decade been exploring representations of slavery in children’s literature.

Penn Fine Arts Lecturer Deirdre Murphy Participates in Penn Program in Environmental Humanities (PPEH) Ecotopian Toolkit ProjectPPEH's Ecotopian Toolkit is meant to put a more uplifting spin on how we see and care for urban waters, and to create a “cohort of like-minded artists working in the same space.” Penn Today features one of the artists, Deirdre Murphy, whose work for this project revolves around the migration of birds feeding and breeding along the Schuylkill’s edge.
