The Sachs Program Makes Its Public Debut
April 24, 2018
The Sachs Program for Arts Innovation awarded its inaugural grants on April 24, 2018, and celebrated the public launch of its program with a performance by renowned filmmaker, artist, and provocative producer of culture John Waters. To see a full list of our 2018 grants, please visit the Grants section of our website. In tandem with the public launch of our program, we also – as you may have noticed – re-launched our website. This new site, though still a work in progress, will not only serve The Sachs Program in its mission to support and be an advocate for the arts at Penn; it will also be a resource to the Penn community and to those interested in the arts at Penn: highlighting significant news and happenings in the arts at Penn, pointing to the numerous spaces and places in which to experience the arts at Penn, and directing the Penn community to resources available for making art happen.
Penn is a place where art happens, where artists thrive, and where art can be experienced. Our program and our website will continue to make this case through a variety of undertakings. We will continue to add content to the website in the coming weeks and months: particularly fleshing out the Spaces and Places and Resources sections. We will launch a newsletter for upcoming Happenings and significant News items, which we hope to send out weekly, as well as a quarterly newsletter for Penn Alumni in the arts. We will work with our colleagues at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on a capital project to add signage and wayfinding to the building, and to make the lobby and the plaza between the Center and the Annenberg School places for engagement and programming. We will work with an intern this summer, Lucy Corlett, who will help us more effectively engage students through our work. And we will continue to work with our Advisory Board on our grantmaking program, which we will relaunch this fall. So, check back and be in touch! There’s a lot brewing at The Sachs Program, and we look forward to sharing it with you!
