The Sachs Program’s Recently Launched Newsletter and Ticket Promotion Series
June 15, 2018
When The Sachs Program launched its newsletter in May, we decided that, in addition to highlighting interesting things happening in the arts at Penn and within the region, we wanted to also generate excitement around the arts and to encourage participation. We started a ticket promotion series, as one facet of these efforts, through which we have been giving away tickets to performances and arts events we think are significant and worth experiencing.
So far, we sent two people to see Taylor Mac: A 24-Decade History of Popular Music at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and two to see Kendrick Lamar performing at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ.
For the Kendrick Lamar promotion, we asked readers to email us with their favorite Kendrick Lamar lyrics. Many responded, and quickly, to our call. It was great to see such enthusiasm for the work, and to appreciate what people found most compelling in the language. Of the responses we received, here are some highlights:
Be humble… sit down!
How can I paint this picture when the color blind is hangin’ with you?
You don’t need dollars to make you feel like you have a place in this world.
We are planning to do more ticket promotions. So please keep an eye out! Our newsletter comes out every other week.
We’re also thinking through other ways to connect people to arts activities this summer and into the coming school year, and we’re always open to suggestions. If you’ve yet to connect with us, please email, call or follow us on social.
And definitely subscribe to our newsletter!
