This project showcases the lived experiences of unsheltered communities in their journeys navigating healthcare systems through the medium of original photographs and writings produced by people experiencing homelessness. Over the past year and a half, the lived experiences of these communities and their recommendations for improved treatment were documented through over 215 photographs taken by the unhoused participants who engaged in the study as well as through qualitative interviews completed with these individuals. The photographs, writings, and takeaways of this study will be displayed through an exhibit in Kensington, thus serving the purpose of 1) bringing the work back to those who were generous and excited to provide their input and 2) improving the visibility of research to communities that have traditionally been abused by academic institutions and projects. A second exhibit will take place on the university campus, focused on 1) engaging medical professionals and trainees and 2) inspiring changes in the treatment of unhoused communities in medical institutions.
