With My Own Hands positions acting and play as a site of reinvigorating collective imagination. During the four-day retreat collaborators will move through a series of improvisational acting exercises in an environment that prioritizes experimentation, emphasizes the ensemble, and poses self-expression as an apparatus to come to terms with our wounds and longings. With My Own Hands offers collaborators an enclave space to soften, reflect and create with each other shielded from the violent gaze of capitalism. In doing so, we reject the single genius paradigm embedded in filmmaking and open ourselves up to a critical process that underlies our cultural transformation.
