Grants

Eligibility Requirements

The Sachs Program for Arts Innovation provides grants to members of the University of Pennsylvania community, including students, faculty, staff, departments, programs, and centers.

Applicants must have a current affiliation with Penn that is anticipated to extend through the completion of any funded project or have sought special permission from their department, program, or center. An exception to this criterion exists for students who may apply in their final year and complete supported projects post-graduation.


Grants for Students

  • Student Grants
    Eligible to students currently enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania.

    • Individual Students (Undergraduate and Graduate)
    • Student Groups (Undergraduate and Graduate)

Annual Grants

  • Artist Residency Grants
    Eligible to the following Penn community members.

    • Departments, Programs, and Centers
  • Community Partnerships Grants
    Eligible to the following Penn community members, in collaboration with community arts and civic organizers or non-profit organizations. For-profit businesses cannot be considered a primary community partner.

    • Departments, Programs, and Centers
    • Faculty (Standing and Non-Standing) *
    • Staff ** Grant awards must be disbursed to a Penn department, program, or center, which will serve as the Fiscal Conduit for the project. Please refer to our published information about grants disbursements for complete guidelines about receiving grant funds.
  • Curricular Support Grants
    Eligible to non-standing faculty only. Non-standing faculty do not need to be currently teaching to apply, but there should be an understanding that they would be teaching the course or courses relevant to their application within the next two academic years to be eligible.

    • Non-Standing Faculty
  • Independent Creative Production Grants
    Eligible to Penn faculty and staff members for their independent, practice-based projects.

    • Faculty (Standing and Non-Standing)
    • Staff
  • Project Support Grants
    Eligible to the following Penn community members to support engagement with the arts and humanities, through projects directed towards the University of Pennsylvania community or broader public, including but not limited to public programming, performances, exhibitions, and non-curricular opportunities for learning and making.

    • Departments, Programs, and Centers
    • Faculty (Standing and Non-Standing)
    • Staff

Additional Grants

  • Rolling Grants
    Intended to support projects that fall outside the annual Sachs Program grant cycle schedule. Applicants may only request one Rolling Grant in a given year.

    • Faculty (Standing and Non-Standing)
    • Staff
