Community Partnerships Grant
Blue Stoop will partner with the Kelly Writers House to offer a series of free, multi-week craft-based writing workshops open to West Philadelphia writers. Founded in 2018, Blue Stoop envisions a radically inclusive literary community where all Philadelphia readers and writers are thriving and supported. Using an anti-racist framework, they are a community-based home for Philly writers unaffiliated with any institution of higher education, and provide education, resources, events, and inclusive writing community. The goal of this partnership is to expand Blue Stoop’s workshop offerings to include people who might not otherwise be able to afford them and to engage writers in the West Philadelphia neighborhood. Initial group meetings for each course would take place in person at the Kelly Writers House to take advantage of the space as a welcoming gathering space and allow people the chance to meet their classmates and instructors face-to-face. Workshops would then take place primarily on Zoom, over the course of eight weeks. The series would conclude with a final, celebratory gathering, also at the Kelly Writers House.
