A Ceremony Without Walls is a collaborative exhibition and panel on the 2nd Annual Art Junpo, a Hainan-based arts festival responding to the loss of spiritual & social life in a Chinese special economic zone. Vivian Bi will participate in the festival as a member of the organizing committee, launching a series of joint exhibitions throughout Hainan. A hybrid panel discussion on Penn’s campus will bring selected artwork and key organizers in conversation with the campus community and the Center for Experimental Ethnography. Vivian Bi’s project A Ceremony Without Walls will share how organizers, artists, and participants mobilize the creative form of ceremony to experiment with the reparative politics of the arts.
