The Center for Experimental Ethnography (CEE) has sought support for the participation of students in “Grounds that Shout! (And Others Merely Shaking),” a series of interrogative performances seeking to explore individual and personal relationships between religion, movement, race and the body, curated by choreographer and performer Reggie Wilson of Fist and Heel Performance Group. “Grounds that Shout!” is a creative collaboration between personnel from four organizations: Reggie Wilson from Fist and Heel Performance Group, Karen DiLossi from Partners for Sacred Places, Harry Philbrick from Philadelphia Contemporary (PC), and Judy Hussie-Taylor from Danspace Project. Students will serve as documentary witnesses to both the process and performances of this project. After the project has been realized, CEE will host a symposium at Penn designed to serve as a “debriefing” of sorts, at which they will screen the documentary the students have created, and during which participants will articulate their experience of the process.
