Juneteenth Community Arts Partnership is a collaboration between the Penn Museum and Forum Philly, a local nonprofit organization focused on social, civic, and educational programming in public schools across Philadelphia, to connect with local students who will create a mural illustrating themes important to them related to Juneteenth. Both the Penn Museum and Forum Philly have strong relationships with Philadelphia Title I schools—the Penn Museum has a ten-year track record of bringing lessons about the ancient world to over 60,000 students for more than a decade, while Forum Philly has spearheaded the Juneteenth Schools Initiative to work with regional school districts in building peer-ideated and historically accurate educational initiatives around Juneteenth. Together, their organizations will identify partner schools who represent diverse groups of young people across Philadelphia to share unique interpretations of Juneteenth via a mural that will be highlighted during the festival.
