The Living Room, a collective of transgender, gender-non-conforming, and genderqueer graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania will run an artist space in University City to support transgender, gender-non-conforming, and genderqueer artists. The Living Room will provide artists and students with peer-to-peer counseling, emotional support, professional art development workshops, and access to free donated materials for art making and artwork documentation. They will provide the community with a yearly lineup of artist talks and conversations given by local transgender and gender-non-conforming artists. The intimacy of these talks and conversations with the Living Room community will facilitate members to build professional and personal relationships for future endeavors. The Living Room will also host shows curated by Living Room’s community members, which will be open to the general public from 10AM-4PM. A library of books written by transgender and gender-non-conforming writers will be available for community members to use and borrow.
