Kelly Writers House will host a series of programs over two semesters featuring Black Muslim women writers, drawn from the anthology Halal if You Hear Me, a collection of Muslim writers, edited by Safia Elhillo. The project will feature writers who work in related but distinct poetic traditions and share a generational identity. Husnaa Haajarah Hashim (C’22), who is a former Youth Poet Laureate of Philadelphia and a member of the Writers House Planning Committee, will take a lead role in the project’s development and will serve as a moderator/host for at least one public program.
