Palimpsest is a short speculative film emerging from Farrah Rahaman’s original research practice, “The Claudia Jones Project,” an experimental study circle and research collective of artists, archivists, and scholars. Recounting the moment when, on the brink of deportation, visionary organizer and journalist Claudia Jones set fire to her entire personal archive, Palimpsest exists on the ethereal bridge between madness and intuition. The film takes place in Jones’ Harlem apartment, punctuated by glimmers from other moments in her life.
