Amrita Stützle and Arely Peña are collaborating with MFA students from UPenn, PAFA, Tyler, and Moore to curate and prepare an exhibition at the Philadelphia Cherry Street Pier of lens-based student work from the four participating schools. This project, which is collectively driven, is a means of creating discourse between the four MFA programs in Philadelphia and cultivating community amongst their students. The group has been meeting virtually collectively to discuss each other’s work and propose artwork possibilities for the exhibition at the Pier. The artists will be making site specifics works that respond to the city of Philadelphia and the history of the Cherry Street Pier. The overarching goal of the project is to provide a fluid platform to create discourse between these Philadelphia arts programs and the Philadelphia community at large. This exhibition will be on view for the month of August.
