Project Support Grant
The West Philadelphia String Music & Mentorship Program introduces young boys and men of color to string instruments within a culturally rich and educational framework, support will help fund instruments and supplies. The program combines music education, mentorship, restorative practices, and a structured rite of passage to nurture personal development, cultural empowerment, and anti-violence initiatives. Operating in cohorts during the Spring and Fall semesters at the DuBois College House on the University of Pennsylvania campus, the program strives to create a safe and enriching environment where participants can hone their musical skills, build resilience, and strengthen their sense of belonging. By equipping participants with essential life skills and providing mentorship, the program envisions transforming them into confident and compassionate community leaders, capable of catalyzing positive social change in West Philadelphia.
