Poets Who Translate is a community-centered reading series that brings together poets working and translating across a diversity of languages to present their work to a lively audience. Readings are held at Dahlak Paradise, a popular Ethiopian restaurant and bar in West Philadelphia. Timmy Straw and Julieta Vittore Dutto first launched the series in 2024 with the goals of bringing translator-poets into conversation, emphasizing languages and literatures beyond Western Europe, and making the readings accessible to the larger West Philadelphia community. This grant will allow them to bring in poets from farther afield, to work across a greater diversity of languages and poetic traditions, and to host readings more frequently.
