Emilio Martínez Poppe (MFA ‘21) is an transdisciplinary artist working across installation, performance, video, and web-design. Their work evokes lived legacies of belonging as a resistance to the gentrification of bodies, identities, public spaces, and intimacies. Emmanuela Soria Ruiz (MFA ‘20) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in Philadelphia. Her work uses sculpture, video and performance to diagram how subjecthood is created within unstable moments of scopic power inside personal or cultural myths.
Stages of Learning is a multi-day engagement exploring the potentialities of classroom aesthetics and techniques through lectures, workshops, and collaboratively designed learning environments. Three cultural practitioners will be invited to shape their contributions across diverse stages of learning. Through this project, they will traverse different modalities of teaching and how intentional physical environments can support experimental pedagogy. Stages of Learning will consist of three 7-hour sessions, with two weeks in between each session, and will be free and open to the public.
