Conceived by Maya Yu Zhang, (un)known address is a performance where diasporic longing shifts into a tale of becoming, excavating the fraught terrain between mothers and daughters, home and exile. The protagonist, a daughter who fled China, confronts maternal betrayal through a triptych of letters exchanged between the living and the dead in this three-act, seance-like performance. Working collaboratively within their queer Asian diasporic community, Maya Yu Zhang explores how cycles of violence, betrayal, and abandonment can be interrupted through radical vulnerability and the confrontation of unspeakable truths.
