Public Trust

Public Trust builds on the twenty-year history of Slought, an experimental and collaborative cultural institution established in 2002 through the efforts of an intergenerational group of individuals.

Slought’s mission was to build relationships and social trust through collaboration and the exchange of ideas, harnessing the power of university and community collaboration. For over twenty years, a volunteer network of individuals in Philadelphia and around the world came together around this vision, working closely with artists, communities, and institutions to develop projects that encouraged inclusiveness, advocacy, and the sharing of knowledge.

The spirit of Slought continues to inspire our work at Public Trust, alongside a capacity for adaptation and a creativity with institutional forms that has always been the signature of our organization. The work of Slought is also preserved through an expansive digital platform that features hundreds of projects and nearly 1000 hours of recordings, and is available online.
