Lisa Britton will create a video library of interviews for Caves, Cathedrals, and Curiosities: Unearthing Stories of the Chemin des Dames in France, a Penn Global Studies (PGS) seminar. The seminar employs Object-Based Learning (OBL) methodologies to explore past and present narratives connected to the Chemin des Dames region in France. The interview series will be an integral component of the curriculum, serving as a core pedagogical resource for students and spotlighting the course’s innovative design and interdisciplinary appeal; it will also serve as an important bridge connecting students to the Chemin des Dames’ cultural and historical narratives, and facilitating the transition from classroom learning at Penn to the immersive experience in France. This seminar will prepare students to interact directly with subject experts and develop the skills needed to ask thoughtful questions and embrace intellectual risks in order to enhance their mastery of the material.
