Erin Busch has sought funding for her dissertation project, an interdisciplinary work that will feature a newly-composed mixed chamber piece, choreography and performance by dancer Savannah Green, and cinematography by Elliot deBruyn. The final product will be a studio-quality art film lasting 20–30 minutes in length. The film will be released online via a free live-streamed premiere. The musical work will be written for a medium-sized mixed chamber ensemble consisting of nine performers: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, percussion, violins (2), viola, and cello. In Erin’s proposal for this project, she stressed the significance of placing three artists in a space together to work on a single project. “It does not always go well,” she said, “no matter how well you may know your collaborator, it’s always a risk to be creatively vulnerable with someone else, and artistic visions are prone to conflict or butt up against one another.” This is also the reason she gave for this project’s importance: “this project would certainly be a creative stretch for all of us, and would be experimental at every step.”
