In this enriched iteration of the course Paris under the German Occupation and its Places of [Non-]Memory, artist Lisa Rosowsky will lead a workshop and share her critical making pedagogy as the students create work for a corollary collaborative exhibition. Lisa Rosowsky will offer students a personal perspective on Holocaust memory and family history. Inspired by Aby Warburg’s Mnemosyne Atlas, the final exhibition will unite students’ works created under the mentorship of the artist and highlight the intricate connections between individual and collective memory. By integrating these innovations, the course will foster a deeper understanding of the interplay between history, memory, and identity. It will encourage students to connect past injustices to contemporary challenges while cultivating empathy, critical thinking, and the ethical engagement needed to grapple with historical and present-day silences.
