Mauro Calcagno produced a new iteration of his Baroque Opera course by bridging it with Meg Bragle’s opera Scenes course and integrating performance to the curriculum. The course culminated in the production of opera scenes based on a shared topic, Orpheus Uncovered, which was produced in partnership with the Baroque Ensemble, directed by Gwyn Roberts, Penn Collegium Musicum, and the Opera at Penn initiatives. Students developed acting skills and will be supported in experiencing live opera, including through an ongoing partnership with Opera Philadelphia.
