Project Support Grant
Shuttle Service is a community-based project led by Rachel Snack and Eugene Lew that spotlights and facilitates collective creation via weaving and sound/musicmaking. Shuttle Service will include an ensemble performance that highlights the connections and influences between each practice and explores the relationships between machine, hand, and ear, and will commission a new work by the artist Emily Carris-Duncan to explore the history of weaving and weavers. Shuttle Service will realize the creation of a fabric collaboratively woven by community members. Rachel and Eugeneare both educators, practitioners, researchers and organizers keen on exploring the common threads between their fields. Additional collaborators will be drawn fromweaving communities, musicians, activists, scholars, sympathetic organizations, and the general public.
