Stories of the Avenue is a narrative nonfiction project that portrays the resilience of patients, providers, and outreach workers responding to the overdose crisis across Philadelphia. Drawing inspiration from Prevention Point’s Sunshine Stories and Penn Medicine’s Listening Lab, Stories of the Avenue seeks to shed light on patient experiences and the complexities of the health system’s response to the overdose crisis. The interviews will be published on a project website and distributed through a physical zine. The project will culminate in an open exhibition event on College Green, alongside resource distribution from the Center for Addiction Medicine and Policy (CAMP) and opportunities for advocacy and community action.
