    Two PMA Sculptures Are Moving to Penn for 99 Years

    Two enormous pieces of public art, standing for decades outside the west entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art overlooking the Fairmount Water Works, will be relocated beginning July 15 to new sites on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The move of the well-known works — Louise Nevelson’s Atmosphere and Environment XII and Jacob Epstein’s Social Consciousness — is prompted by the museum’s ongoing construction work.

    The School of Social Policy and Practice Launches One Book, One SP2 Initiative

    This summer, the entire School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) community has been invited to engage in a collective experience focused around the book “Unapologetic: A Black, Queer, and Feminist Mandate for Radical Movements.” The communal endeavor is tied to One Book, One SP2, a new initiative intended to foster a stronger sense of unity and reinforce antiracism efforts and cultural humility throughout the school.

    One Hour, One Painting at the Barnes

    A two-week mindCORE summer workshop aimed at underrepresented undergrads across the country is focusing on language science and technology, and minds in the world. Participating students hear from more than 20 Penn researchers on a range of topics. The Barnes exercise, one part of the overall program, reveals clues about how the brain processes visual cues.
