Grants

Eligibility

The Sachs Program for Arts Innovation provides grants to members of the Penn community, including students, faculty, staff, departments, programs, centers, and alumni. Applicants must have a current affiliation with Penn that is anticipated to extend through the completion of any funded project (other than alumni) or have sought special permission from their department, program, or center. Non-standing faculty and staff must be employed at Penn for one academic year before they are eligible to apply. 


Student Grants Eligibility

  • Ben Art Bucks
    Only eligible to students.

  • Student Grants
    Students must be enrolled when they apply and must seek approval from their department, program, or center if their project will extend beyond their graduation date.

Annual Grants Eligibility

  • Alumni Art Awards
    All University of Pennsylvania alumni with an established artistic practice may apply.

  • Artist Residency Grants
    Eligible to the following community members.

    • Departments, Programs, Centers
  • Community Partnership Grants
    Eligible to the following community members, in collaboration with a community group or organization whose work is driven by artistic or civic engagement.

  • Curricular Support Grants
    Anyone eligible to teach a course. Non-standing faculty must be employed at Penn for one academic year before they are eligible to apply.

    • Faculty (Standing and Non-Standing)
    • Staff
    • Graduate Students
  • Independent Creative Production Grants
    Individual faculty and staff members may apply for their independent, practice-based projects. Non-standing faculty and staff must be employed at Penn for one academic year before they are eligible to apply.

  • Project Grants
    Eligible to the following Penn community members to support performances, exhibitions, visiting artists, programming, and other forms of public engagement. Non-standing faculty and staff must be employed at Penn for one academic year before they are eligible to apply.

    • Departments, Programs, Centers
    • Formal Student Groups (Undergrad and Graduate)

Additional Grants Eligibility

  • First-Year Seminar Grants
    Faculty members currently teaching or scheduled to teach a first-year seminar are eligible to apply for First-Year Seminar Grants.

    • Faculty (Standing and Non-Standing)
  • Responsive Grant Opportunities
    Generally, all Penn community members may apply, including alumni, if their project or work falls within the focus of the specific call for proposals.

    • Students (Undergrad and Graduate)
    • Student Groups
    • Alumni
  • Rolling Grants
    Intended to support projects that fall outside of our grant cycle. Applicants may only request one Rolling Grant in a given year.
