Wolf Humanities Center

In 2017, Edith Hall participated in a Forum on Afterlives hosted by Wolf Humanities Center. She spoke about the Ancient Greeks and the Future of the Human Race: discussing why, especially in times of great social upheaval, should we turn to the ancient past. This is but one example of the exemplary programming that the Wolf Humanities Center offers throughout the academic year at Penn.
The Wolf Humanities Center is Penn’s main hub for interdisciplinary humanities research and public programming. Established in 2017 by a gift from Noelle and Dick Wolf, the center grew out of the Penn Humanities Forum, founded by Wendy Steiner in 1999. Every year the Center organizes a core program of lectures, seminars, performances, and film series around a single major topic: Origins, Violence, Virtuality, Sex, Color. Through its fellowship programs they gather dozens of researchers at every level from undergraduate students to senior faculty to explore the topic together in depth and from diverse perspectives.
